Do you have a doctrinal statement?
While we come from an evangelical background we don’t have an official doctrinal statement however there are a few key doctrinal and practical things that guide us in creating Young Man Magazine.
We believe in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as revealed in the 66 books of the Bible. These books are the only inspired revelation from God and are completely trustworthy and without errors.
We believe that Jesus Christ is Lord of all things and was sent by the Father in the power of the Spirit to be born of a virgin, live a sinless life, suffer and die on our behalf and rise again to secure our eternal forgiveness, redemption, and joy. He reigns over all things now and forever.
We believe that the goal of parenting is to raise our children “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4) and to teach them to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength (Deut. 6:4-7).
We believe that the salvation of our children and their spiritual maturity is not something parents can manufacture, guarantee, or manipulate, but is a gift from God.
Therefore at Young Man Magazine....
We aim to speak about the Lord and the world he created in ways that show His goodness and draw young men to desire to know and love him.
We aim to show compelling portraits of other men who have exemplified what it looks like to love the Lord with all their heart, soul, mind, and strength in various situations, professions, and arts.
We aim to honor the primacy of parents in discipling their children which means...
1) we try to echo what you are saying at home and
2) we plan not to overstep our bounds by introducing topics like romance, sex, and pornography.
Finally, we commit to pray for each family we serve knowing that only God can use our failings and weakness as parents to transform our young men to be like Christ, and it is God whom we continue to trust and love even when our parenting doesn’t “work” the way we think it should.
